Genome-wide analysis of 30 -untranslated regions supports the existence of post-transcriptional regulons controlling gene expression in trypanosomes

In eukaryotic cells, a group of messenger ribonucleic acids (mRNAs) encoding functionally interrelated proteins together with the trans-acting factors that coordinately modulate their expression is termed a post-transcriptional regulon, due to their partial analogy to a prokaryotic polycistron. This mRNA clustering is organized by sequence-specific RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) that bind cis-regulatory elements in the noncoding regions of genes, and mediates the synchronized control of their fate. These recognition motifs are often characterized by conserved sequences and/or RNA structures, and it is likely that various classes of cis-elements remain undiscovered. Current evidence suggests that RNA regulons govern gene expression in trypanosomes, unicellular parasites which mainly use post-transcriptional mechanisms to control protein synthesis. In this study, we used motif discovery tools to test whether groups of functionally related trypanosomatid genes contain a common cis-regulatory element. We obtained conserved structured RNA motifs statistically enriched in the noncoding region of 38 out of 53 groups of metabolically related transcripts in comparison with a random control. These motifs have a hairpin loop structure, a preferred sense orientation and are located in close proximity to the open reading frames. We found that 15 out of these 38 groups represent unique motifs in which most 30 -UTR signature elements were group-specific. Two extensively studied Trypanosoma cruzi RBPs, TcUBP1 and TcRBP3 were found associated with a few candidate RNA regulons. Interestingly, 13 motifs showed a strong correlation with clusters of developmentally co-expressed genes and six RNA elements were enriched in gene clusters affected after hyperosmotic stress. Here we report a systematic genome-wide in silico screen to search for novel RNA-binding sites in transcripts, and describe an organized network of several coordinately regulated cohorts of mRNAs in T. cruzi. Moreover, we found that structured RNA elements are also conserved in other human pathogens. These results support a model of regulation of gene expression by multiple post-transcriptional regulons in trypanosomes.Fil: de Gaudenzi, Javier Gerardo. El Principio de orientación perceptivo-auditivo-musical en la actividad rítmica deportiva

The subject raises essential elements of the Principle of perceptual-auditory-musical orientation as precepts based on a methodological orientation towards decision-making in perceptual-auditory-musical processes, manifested in the teaching position of the teacher, for the determination of the aids that are require in the interpretation of the information contained in the musical work. For the development of this research, investigation methods and techniques from the different levels were used. The solution presented, contains resources necessary for proper musical appreciation, manifested in the expressive and sound media from the rhythmic sporting activity.La temática aborda elementos esenciales del Principio de orientación perceptivo-auditivo-musical como preceptos basados en una orientación metodológica hacia la toma de decisiones en los procesos perceptivos-auditivos-musicales, manifestada en la postura didáctica del docente, para la determinación de las ayudas que se requieren en la interpretación de la información contenida en la obra musical. Para el desarrollo de esta investigación se emplearon métodos y técnicas de investigación de los diferentes niveles. La solución que se presenta, contiene recursos necesarios para una correcta apreciación musical, manifestados en los medios expresivos y sonoros desde la actividad rítmica deportiva

Flexible tool for small signal stability analysis

This paper presents the development of a flexible tool for the calculation of the state matrix A of the power system. This program is called SIAM (Sistema Informático para Análisis Modal - Computational System for Modal Analysis). The state matrix is obtained from the load flow solution data and from the dynamic model parameters employed. The detailed models of synchronous machines, automatic voltage regulators and power system stabilizers are linearized for the calculation. The value of redistribution: natural resources and the formation of human capital under weak institutions

We exploit time and spatial variation generated by the commodities boom to measure the effect of natural resources on human capital formation in Peru, a country with low governance indicators. Combining test scores from over two million students and district-level administrative data on mining production and the redistribution of mining taxes to local governments, we find no effect from production. However, redistribution of mining taxes increases math test scores by 0.23 standard deviations. We identify the improvements in the quality of teachers and in school infrastructure, together with increases in adult employment and health outcomes of adults and children, as key mechanisms from the redistribution. Policy implications for the avoidance of the natural resource curse are discussed.Los autores aprovechan la variación espacial y temporal generada por el boom de las materias primas para medir el efecto de los recursos naturales sobre la formación de capital humano en el Perú, un país con bajos indicadores de gobernanza. Al combinar las puntuaciones de las pruebas de más de dos millones de estudiantes y los datos administrativos a nivel de distrito sobre la producción minera y la redistribución de los impuestos mineros a los gobiernos locales, no se encontró ningún efecto de la producción. Sin embargo, la redistribución de los impuestos mineros aumenta los resultados de las pruebas de matemáticas en 0.23 desviaciones estándar. Los autores identifican las mejoras en la calidad de los docentes y en la infraestructura de la escuela, junto con el aumento en el empleo de los adultos y en los resultados de salud de adultos y niños, como mecanismos clave de la redistribución. Finalmente, en el documento se discuten las implicaciones de política para evitar la maldición de los recursos naturales

Efecto de la aplicación del producto NITROBACTER® dentro de un plan de fertilización nitrogenada sobre el crecimiento y rendimiento de melón dorado (Cucumis melo L.) hibrido 6276 en pilas de canjel, Nandayure, Guanacaste

Escuela de Agronomía. 2016This research was conducted at the Finca Agroexportaciones Canjel SA in Pilas de Canjel Nadayure. The process evaluated the effect on the development of the golden melon crop, 6276 hybrid; as part of the product Nitrobacter. This is based on nitrogen-fixing bacteria, incorporated into a plan of nitrogen fertilization. There were three treatments applied, two of them had the same dose of Nitrobacter, with different doses of nitrogen in order to establish a 55%, 85% and 100% of nitrogen fertilization. It was conducted in three batches of 3600 m2 each, which were duly divided into six plots each with a different treatment. Evaluations were performed during one growing season, which included the months of February to April 2016. The variance analysis shows significant differences between treatments for dry weight of the aerial part of the crop and also for the total dry weight. There were no significant differences for the number of leaves per plant, number of guides per plant and leaf area between treatments. It was determined that the number of days in which the highest growth of the fruit goes from 35 to 47 DDT, with increases up to 100% of its weight. The content and nutritional value of the crop at 35 DDT, does not present significant differences between treatments, showing that the product does have a positive or negative influence overall. There were no significant differences for the performance’s variable when compared between treatments. Therefore, treatment number three becomes the best option, introducing the fertilization at a lower cost compared to other treatments. The use of the product Nitrobacter, can reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizers, increasing the crop yield and reducing the cost of fertilization
